Roll the die to name your half-elf (Just click it)
I made this half-elf name generator as a resource to help DnD players get inspiration for a new character and to help DMs quickly generate names for half-elf NPCs. In DnD, half-elf names follow either elven or human naming conventions. I included all the combinations of elf names and human names listed in the Player’s Handbook (pg. 22-23; 30-31; 39) as possible options. I use all human cultures surnames, as well as the family names of elves (including their common translations). If you see a last name in parentheses, that means its elven; otherwise, it’s a human surname.
Half-elves raised among humans typically are given elven names, while those raised among elves often take human names, so it’s important to consider your half-elf character’s backstory and upbringing when deciding on a name. But for now, let the dice fly — if you don’t like the names that pop up, just click the die to roll again for a brand new Dungeons and Dragons character name.
If you’d like more help building your character’s background, check out my backstory generator, personality traits, ideals, bonds, and flaws generators. They each contain completely unique character traits — I didn’t just recycle the bits and pieces of the backstories from above.
